Wizard World Presents: An Evening With Kevin Smith In Minneapolis, Friday, May 1

MINNEAPOLIS, April 8, 2015 – Kevin Smith, who wrote and directed Clerks,Yoga Hosers and the series "Comic Book Men" among his many credits, will host “Wizard World Presents: An Evening With Kevin Smith” on May 1 in Minneapolis. Organized in conjunction with Wizard World Comic Con Minneapolis, the live Q&A session will begin at 8 p.m. at the State Theatre (805 Hennepin Avenue) in Minneapolis.
“I'm a big Minnesota fan—both in size and spirit,” said Smith. “This hockey-loving state was home to Mallrats back in 1995, so anytime I get a chance to return, it feels like a sort of homecoming. I'm grateful to Wizard World Minneapolis for bringing me to the show, where I'll be scouring the floor for any bootleg copies ofAvengers: Age of Ultron. Black Cat Co-Creator Keith Pollard To Appear at the GRASP Comic Expo in Grand Rapids

Keith Pollard is an American comic book artist, renowned for his concurrent work on the Marvel Comics titles, The Amazing Spider-Man, The Fabulous Fantastic Four, and The Mighty Thor in the late 70's.

In 1974 Pollard launched his professional comics career, penciling such titles as, Deadly Hands of Kung FuMaster of Kung FuAstonishing Tales, The Inhumans, Jungle Action Featuring The Black Panther, Black Goliath, and The Invincible Ironman. He was the regular penciller of The Amazing Spider-Man from issue #186 (Nov. 1978) through issue #205 (June 1980) and illustrated the second story in the back of The Amazing Spider-Man Annual #15 (1981). With Pollard collaborating with writer and co-creator Marv Wolfman, The Black Cat debuted in The Amazing Spider-Man #194 (July 1979).  They were also the creative team for both The Fabulous Fantastic Four #200 (Nov. 1978) and The Amazing Spider-Man #200 (Jan. 1980). In 1982, Pollard became the regular pencil artist of The Mighty Thor issues #286-320.

In the early 80s, Pollard began penciling for DC Comics where he illustrated The Green Lantern #157-165 (1982-1983), and with Marv Wolfman, kicked-off The Vigilante series.

Besides working for Marvel Comics and DC Comics, Pollard also worked for Atlas Comics, Milestone Comics and others.  He was a guest artist on many other titles such as The Avengers, The X-Men, Deathlok, The Teen Titans, Worlds Finest, Wonder Woman, Ms. Marvel, The Eternals, Moon Knight, Iron Fist, Hardware, Icon, Static, just to name a few. The Silver Surfer: The Enslavers is a graphic novel he wrote and illustrated for Marvel Comics with Stan Lee scripting, in 1990 and he drew all the character profiles for the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe Master Edition.

"Keith is one of those guys who actually has had a hand in the creation of an iconic character in the comic universe," said event director Mark Hodges. "The Black Cat is a commonly cosplayed character at comic book conventions, and Keith created the look. We are happy to have Keith at the GRASP Comic Expo."

"Wolverine" Artist Joe Rubenstein To Appear at the GRASP Comic Expo in Grand Rapids

Famed Wolverine artist Joe Rubenstein will appear at the GRASP Comic Expo onJune 27-28 at the DeltaPlex Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Josef "Joe" Rubinstein is a comic book artist and inker, most associated with inking Marvel Comics' The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe and the 1982 four-issue Wolverine miniseries by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller. 

Rubinstein was born in Germany, and, after moving to the United States, started his artist career in the early 1970s as a teenager. Primarily working as an inker, his artwork has been published by major U.S. comics publishers including Marvel Comics, DC Comics and Dark Horse Comics. 

In 1982, Rubinstein inked the acclaimed Wolverine limited series.

One of his most important works has been inking The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe over a span of twenty years, for which he holds a Guinness World Record of inking more pencilers than any other inker. 
Among his extensive inking credits (which include more than 2,500 comic books), were work with Michael Golden on Micronauts, Jim Starlin's Warlock and Aquaman with Don Newton. Later assignments included a mini-series for Dark Horse Comics called Archenemies, and co-inked issues of DC Comics's Ion mini-series and Green Arrow/Black Canary.

"Joe is one of the most important artists of the Bronze and Copper Ages of comics," said event director Mark Hodges. "Joe was instrumental in the creartion of the look of one of the most iconic characters in the Marvel universe, and he was very important in the creation of one of Marvel's encyclopedia to their history. We are glad that Joe will be with us."

Livingston County shop to host Free events for board game and comic book lovers

Nerdageddon Comics Cards Collectibles – www.Nerdageddon.com - located at 117 E. Grand River Avenue in Brighton, Michigan is excited to invite area nerds to upcoming FREE events. Nerd-A-Game-Day will be held in conjunction with International Table Top Day on Saturday April 11th from 10a-8p and is sure to excite those gamers looking to test the latest board & tabletop games or play some of the classics. Then on, Saturday May 2nd from 12noon-7pm, Nerdageddon will participate in the national comic book holiday - Free Comic Book Day – taking place every year on the first Saturday in May.
