Jeff Daniels brings one-man acoustic show to area

One of the state’s most famous residents is bringing his talents to Monroe County Community College’s La-Z-Boy Center.

Tickets for “An Evening with Jeff Daniels” are nearing sell-out status, according to organizers, with about 150 remaining for the 7:30 p.m. show next Wednesday.

Emmy-winning television and movie star Jeff Daniels will perform his one-man acoustic show of bluesy folk songs, personal stories and comedy at MCCC.

The college booked the show as a signature event to recognize its 50th anniversary, as well as the theater’s 10th anniversary.

Daniels is a native of nearby Chelsea, where he founded The Purple Rose Theater Company.

He recently took home an Emmy for best actor in a drama for his starring role as Will McAvoy in HBO’s “The Newsroom.” He also has been nominated by his peers for a Screen Actors Guild award for the role.

This is Daniels’ second appearance at MCCC. He performed a sold-out show at the La-Z-Boy Center, Meyer Theater in 2007.

Tickets are $45 and are available only at monroeccc.edu/theater.
